About Our Church Upholstery Range
Our church cushions are designed with quality, safety and elegance in mind. We offer bespoke pew cushions, pew runners and altar rail kneelers in every shape, size and quantity!
We source only high-quality materials to ensure they can withstand the wear-and-tear of public use. Furthermore, each layer – from the Dacron-wrapped foam, which maintains the integrity of the cushion, to the luxe fabric covering – has been rigorously tested and awarded a Crib 5 fire safety rating. To learn more about Crib 5, scroll down to our FAQ section at the end of this page.
You can choose from a wide range of fabrics and colours to suit your church’s colour scheme. The majority of our fabrics are machine washable; however, our team will verify this during the quotation process. Durable, full-length zips are featured as standard on all of our cushions, allowing for easy removal and cleaning.
You are also welcome to supply your own fabric if preferred – simply let us know when requesting a quotation.
Pew Cushions & Pew Runners
Our church pew cushions are customisable; however, a thickness of two inches is the standard and our most popular request.
We also offer pew runners, which are generally half the thickness (one inch) of pew cushions and, therefore, a slightly cheaper option.
Altar Rail Kneelers
Each altar rail kneeler features convenient ‘ears’ and ‘d-rings’ to aid handling and storage.
Piped or Un-Piped
Our cushion range is available with or without piped edges. The choice is purely aesthetic and has no bearing on the functionality or wear.
Piped edges give the cushion a sophisticated, intricate look, while cushions without piping have a neat, simplistic feel. We have provided examples below to aid your decision.
Embroidery
We have a large team of talented sewers, capable of embroidering all products with personalised wording and designs.
If you are interested in adding a personalised element to your order to represent your church, please let us know when requesting a quotation.

About Our Fabric & Foam
Fabric
Our pew cushion covers are made from woven chenille velvet for a graceful, sophisticated finish. The material has a Crib 5 rating, meaning it has passed thorough fire safety testing (BS 5852: 2006 at ignition source 5).
Though this fabric may be soft to the touch, it is extremely hard wearing, capable of withstanding many a Sunday service! It has also been selected for its easy-care qualities, so you can efficiently tackle any spills or stains
Foam
We source only the most comfortable, long-wearing foam for our church cushions – all of which comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988. To further ensure longevity, the foam is Dacron-wrapped, designed to preserve the neat shape of the cushions and prevent spreading with heavy use.

Contact Us for a Quotation & Sample Cushion
When requesting a quotation for your church by email or via the contact form below, please include the following information:
- Whether you require the cushions piped or un-piped. If you’re undecided, please tick both options.
- Desired thickness of the cushions. Two inches (5 cm) is the standard cushion thickness, and this measurement makes up the majority of our requests.
- Desired depth of the cushions. For reference, the standard pew depth is 30 cm. Although we understand that pew specifications can vary and are happy to accommodate custom orders, a depth of 30 cm simplifies manufacturing and fabric costs and streamlines the process of placing a large number of cushions in a church.
- Desired length of cushions. The standard length for a pew cushion is up to three meters. We split all cushions over three meters long into two separate cushions to maintain their longevity and prevent the misshaping of edges over time.
- The name and address of your church.
- An estimate of when you would be looking to have your order manufactured.
- Any additional details you would like us to consider, e.g. desired colour, personalised embroidery, and so on.

Frequently Asked Questions
We hope this section will help you to quickly find the information you need. However, if you cannot find an answer below, please do get in touch.
Q: How much are your pew cushions/runners/kneelers?
Due to the custom nature of our orders, there is no single set price for any of our church cushions. For this reason, we recommend that you request a quote so that we can assess your individual requirements and offer a personalised idea of the cost of your order.
Q: How long is your turnaround time?
Our standard delivery timeline is around 4 weeks from time of order and varies depending on our sewing team’s workload. If your order is urgent or you are keen to have your pew cushions delivered by a certain date, do advise as we will always do our best to accommodate.
Q: Do you deliver?
Yes! We deliver throughout the UK.
Q: What can I expect from a sample?
Our sample pack includes a smaller version of our pew cushions, runners or altar rail kneelers, depending on your request. This sample-sized cushion is designed to demonstrate the quality of our full-sized cushions and features all standard elements of the final product, including our commercial grade Crib 5 fabric and foam and durable zips.
Don’t worry if you’re still unsure whether to opt for piping – our sample cushion showcases both options, featuring one side with piping and one side without. This way you can trial both finishes in the comfort of your church!
Q: Do you have a minimum or maximum order quantity?
We are delighted to cater for all churches and places of worship regardless of size; therefore, we do not have a minimum or maximum order limit on our cushions.
Q: What is a Crib 5 Fire Safety Rating?
‘Crib 5’, or ‘Ignition Source 5’, is the standard fire rating for upholstery intended for public use, including places of worship. Material with a Crib 5 rating is resistant to ignition and slow to spread flame, rigorously tested to ensure that it meets these strict safety standards.
Organisations whose buildings are available to the public have a legal and moral duty to protect those who use their premises. To ensure this, the government created the UK Fire Regulations Act 1988 and subsequent updates to provide a legal standard of fire safety for organisations to uphold.
Commercial furniture is subject to more frequent use and risk of fire than domestic furniture; therefore, it is vital that these furnishings are as fortified against ignition as possible to combat the increased potential for hazard.
You and your visitors can rest assured that every church pew cushion you buy from Devon Disability Collective is safe and compliant with UK fire regulations.
