We visited Turntable Furniture a couple of weeks ago – they are another fantastic local charity 🙂
What is Turntable and what does it do?
Turntable is an Exeter-based charitable organisation that collects donated furniture, electrical items and carpets, that are in good, clean condition, free of charge, from the Exeter area, to pass on to families and individuals on very low incomes.
All the items that are collected are put on show to allow people to choose what they need. Turntable doesn’t sell the furniture but makes a nominal charge as a contribution towards its costs.
Anyone wishing to get furniture from Turntable must: a) be in receipt of one or more means-tested benefits, and b) be referred by an approved referrer.
Turntable is mainly run by long-term unemployed people who volunteer their services to develop their own skills in order to help them secure full-time employment.
